Advocacy & Action
The plant medicine and psychedelic space needs advocates as much as it needs practitioners. Whether you donate, volunteer, or simply stay informed – here’s where to get involved. This page is manually curated and updated periodically.
Organizations to Support
MAPS — Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies
USA · Global
Founded in 1986, MAPS is the world’s most prominent psychedelic research and advocacy organization. They fund clinical trials, advocate for policy reform grounded in social and racial equity, and have been instrumental in advancing MDMA and psilocybin toward legal therapeutic use. Donating to MAPS directly supports research that could change how mental health is treated globally.
Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines
USA · Global
Chacruna bridges the gap between psychedelic science and public understanding, with a deep commitment to Indigenous reciprocity, decolonial perspectives, and psychedelic justice. Run largely by volunteers, they produce critical public education and advocacy that centres voices often missing from the mainstream conversation. A small donation goes a long way.
ICEERS — International Center for Ethnobotanical Education, Research & Service
Spain · Global
Barcelona-based ICEERS is the world’s leading organization focused specifically on ayahuasca, iboga, and other traditional plant medicines. They provide free legal defence for people in trouble with the law for plant medicine use, support harm reduction, and organize the World Ayahuasca Conference. Deeply aligned with PSMHub’s values.
Decriminalize Nature
USA · Grassroots
A national grassroots movement that has successfully decriminalized entheogenic plants and fungi in over 25 cities and counties since 2019. Their Grow-Gather-Gift model centres community access over commercialization. If you want to get involved at the local level — organizing, canvassing, collecting signatures — this is where to start.
Drug Policy Alliance
USA · Global
The leading organization working to end the war on drugs and replace it with policies grounded in science, compassion, health, and human rights. DPA works on the broader drug policy landscape that shapes the environment in which plant medicine advocacy happens — racial equity, decriminalization, and harm reduction are all central to their mission.
Heroic Hearts Project
USA · UK · Netherlands
A nonprofit connecting military veterans struggling with trauma, PTSD, and MST to psychedelic therapy options including ayahuasca, psilocybin, and ketamine. Founded by former Army Ranger Jesse Gould, HHP has been a powerful force for both healing and policy change — demonstrating the life-saving potential of plant medicine to governments and the public alike.
Fireside Project
USA · Free Support Line
A free, confidential psychedelic peer support line available to anyone having a difficult experience during or after a psychedelic experience. Call or text 62-FIRESIDE (623-473-7433) to reach a trained peer supporter — no judgment, no cost. Available daily 11am–11pm PT. One of the most important harm reduction resources in the psychedelic space.
